After much deliberation, I decided to add some font.
I also thought about combining something that was hand-drawn with something a bit modern. I've had a recent (recent= the past year) obsession with squares for stretched canvas, in addition to holga (medium format) photography and polaroids.
I'd take a square over a rectangle anyday.
I remember an instructor telling me something years ago about combining mediums...and i think this thought can be applied to attempting to mix different styles as well. Something organic or figurative combined with something pattern-esque can be difficult sometimes...yet it is like Fred and Ginger. In those old films you'd see a marriage of dance between the two, the feminine with the masculine, her moves not overshadowing his, and vice versa. When combining mediums/styles it's like that.
hopefully.
There has to be somewhat of a "fred&ginger" marriage...where one doesn't dominate or undermind the other.
I'm hoping to find this process while I combine hand drawn images with geometric + text...
(On a more personal note, the hand drawing of the hangers comes from a photo I took while in Czech. It was in this small church where the old-people-population outweighed the young-people-population, and where CZ = czech republic.)
