final wallpaper

After much deliberation, I decided to add some font.
I also thought about combining something that was hand-drawn with something a bit modern. I've had a recent (recent= the past year) obsession with squares for stretched canvas, in addition to holga (medium format) photography and polaroids.
I'd take a square over a rectangle anyday.
I remember an instructor telling me something years ago about combining mediums...and i think this thought can be applied to attempting to mix different styles as well. Something organic or figurative combined with something pattern-esque can be difficult sometimes...yet it is like Fred and Ginger. In those old films you'd see a marriage of dance between the two, the feminine with the masculine, her moves not overshadowing his, and vice versa. When combining mediums/styles it's like that.
hopefully.
There has to be somewhat of a "fred&ginger" marriage...where one doesn't dominate or undermind the other.
I'm hoping to find this process while I combine hand drawn images with geometric + text...
(On a more personal note, the hand drawing of the hangers comes from a photo I took while in Czech. It was in this small church where the old-people-population outweighed the young-people-population, and where CZ = czech republic.)

wallpaper practice while watching The Office

Here's a practice wallpaper I did once I got home Thurs night after class. Luckily I didn't have work the next day, and considering I can be quite subborn at times...I found that I needed to practice a bit more.
Discipline, lets be friends.
During this class I have been overjoyed + frustrated. Not really frustrated with the program, but frustrated with my lack of experience, because I seem to be quite good at clicking all the wrong buttons at the wrong time. Not being able to work (directly) with my hands drives me crazy...yet every time I learn something new, I get really excited.
and click goes the option key.
Something I was thinking of this morning is this:
Where does confidence play a role in making art? Does someone really need confidence to make good art...or is it the authentic-pushing-forward-not-give-up-in-your-efforts-while-feeling-inadequate that matters more?
is that of more value?
